FAQ

We think we've covered most of the big questions below.  However, if we haven't answered your question, please email us at andrew@marketingnetworklab.com or jeff@marketingnetworklab.com.

Who are you guys anyway?  Andrew and Jeff are two PhD students at Columbia University in the City of New York.  They do a lot of research and are looking for participants.  Other faculty and students from Columbia will also be working through this panel website.

What is a panel?  A panel is a group of consumers that agrees to be contacted via email for research purposes (usually online surveys).  Often, panel members are paid for their participation.  Each member is free to participate in as many, or as few surveys as they like.

What happens when (if) I sign up?  If you decide to sign up and join the panel, you will first be asked to fill out a demographic survey.  It asks the basic age and gender type questions.  Then you will be placed into our database and we will contact you when we have surveys we would like you to complete.  That's it!

Will you share my information?  NEVER!  We are a non-profit group of researchers.  We will never sell, share or divulge your information.  Furthermore, we will store your information on secure servers.  Please see the "participants rights" section below for further information.

If I decide I no longer want to be a panel member, can I cancel my membership?  Absolutely.  All you will need to do is email us (either of the addresses at the top of the page will do) and we will pull you off of our list.

So, how much will I get PAID?  This is actually a tough question.  The answer is "it depends."  The more surveys you complete, the more you will get paid.  Notice that it is important that you complete surveys to get paid.  Also, different researchers will pay different amounts for you to complete their survey.  When we email you, we will tell you how much we are offering you to complete the survey, and how long we expect it will take you to complete the survey.

Do I need to complete every survey you email me about?  Nope.  You may participate in as many or as few surveys as you like.  We're not here to pressure you.

After I sign up, how soon will I start receiving emails about surveys?  Another tough question.  We are in the process of completing our first membership drive.  The sooner we have enough people to start running surveys, the sooner we will do so.

How will I get paid?  We are going to pay panel members via PayPal.  So, you will need to get a pay PayPal eventually (no need to do this now!).  We will email all members further details regarding payment before we send our first survey requests out.

I am a researcher, can I have access to the panel?  As mentioned above, we will not share any information regarding our panel.  Only members of the Columbia University academic community will have access to this panel.

What are my rights as a participant?  We follow all guidelines laid out by the Columbia University Institutional Review Board.  To view the IRB's website, please click here.

I'd like to go back to the home page.  How do I do that?  The best way is to click here.
